Students entering for the 2015 Prize (entries closing in October 2014) are expected to use the 2015 Simpson Prize Australian War Memorial Source Selection and their own research to produce either an essay of 1200-1500 words or an audio visual presentation of no longer than ten minutes, accompanied by a written explanation of no more than 400 words.The Joyce Carol Oates Prize is named in honor of the iconic author, and our colleague, Joyce Carol Oates. For two years Joyce served as Simpson Project Writer-in-Residence at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, as well as a leading member of the Project Committee.The Simpson Prize is a great opportunity for Year 9 and 10 students to participate in a nationwide essay competition, giving them the chance to win a two-day trip to Canberra, and an unforgettable 2 week trip to overseas battlefields (incorporating Anzac Day commemorations).
